Features VI

Not So Traditional Tuesdays #3I'm staying with my plan to will keep the features fresh for me(and you) and maybe open a few eyes to all the different kinds of artwork that is available while browsing the deviantArt galleries. The things that make one piece of art great applies, for the most part, to other genres. A painter can learn how light and shadow fall from photography, photo-manipulators can learn about composition from a great Manga drawing, and literature can give you the inspiration to try something new or take your work to the next step. You may never try all art forms you see! You can however take what you learn from them and incorporate that into your own work. It could be the difference between stagnating and that breakthrough every artist wants to find!

Photographer of the Week: CyanideMishka

*CyanideMishka is starkly open with her self portraiture work creating soft, gentle portraits in alluring or mysterious poses. Whilst the majority of her work focuses on Artistic Nude Self Portraits she also works hard to capture emotively and expressively. Truly an example of a gallery with Something for Everyone .

A Glimpse into Futurism Art❖ Introduction
Futurism was an avant-garde artistic and social movement founded by the Italian writer, Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, originated in Italy in the early 20th century. It emphasized and glorified themes related to the modern concepts of the future, including speed, technology, machinery, violence and objects such as cars, airplanes and industrial cities. It was largely an Italian phenomenon, though there were parallel movements in Russia and England.
Futurist ideology influenced all types of art. It began in literature but spread to every medium, including painting, sculpture, industrial design, architecture, cinema and music.

In the seventh Creeping Wednesday feature, all is framed with more or less complicated borders, but they're all nice! This time, some of the shown artworks were suggested by *SandraHultsved, =SingingFlames and *erinclaireb so many thanks to them! For the next feature, I'm looking for creepy spiders! The big ones and the small ones, the fat ones and the thin ones, singles and hordes. The spider theme was suggested by =Eitvys200. One of the more recent articles on the topic of photography explores how an instagram photograph taken during Hurricane Sandy has been selected to be used on the cover of Time Magazine. Perhaps quite fittingly, the title accompanying the image on the front page is Lessons from the storm. Whilst many have learned a lot from Hurricane Sandy and many more are working on rebuilding their lives, one of the biggest lessons for photographers and the world of media could well be that iphone Photographers can be photo-journalists too. We've covered the topic of equipment, capabilities and qualifications many a time before now in Photography Weekly - but what are your thoughts on this article?
